Hotel staycations are no longer just about a comfy room and breakfast, and maybe a dip in the pool and some workout time at the gym.

These days, staycation packages often feature activities and experiences that are fun and engaging. Better still if said activities are unique and family-friendly.

So if you love baking and are eager to pick up some tips from the pros, or want your kids to get in on some baking action, Carlton Hotel Singapore has just the thing for you and your family. The hotel’s Stay & Bake Staycation package includes a one-night stay in a Premier Room, set breakfast for two persons, late check-out till 4pm, a 1.5-hour chef-guided baking workshop and personalised aprons.

Here’s what you can look forward to during your Stay and Bake Staycation.

Unwind in a spacious Premier Room with a view

Spread across three wings, the hotel’s 940 rooms sport calming earth-toned hues of grey, brown and beige enlivened by red accents. At 34sqm, the Premier Room in the Premier Wing is spacious and offers captivating views of the Civic District and Marina Bay. Chill out by the window to soak up the marvellous views and maybe indulge in a healthy dose of daydreaming!

Premier Room

Those who need to work can get comfy on the ergonomically designed Herman Miller chair and moveable glass table.

The marble-clad bathroom has a bathtub and standing rain shower, and is stocked with The White Company toiletries.

There’s also a Nespresso coffee machine to satisfy your coffee cravings and for in-room entertainment, there’s a 43-inch Smart TV with 36 channels.

Enjoy an easy-to-follow baking class led by the hotel pastry chef

As the baking class is held in the hotel’s open-concept pastry kitchen, you’ll have the privilege of working in a space where the pastry chefs churn out the hotel’s best-selling pastries like Carlton Chicken Pie, Key Lime Tart, Matcha Lava Bun and Hazelnut Chocolate Éclair (available at Tuxedo Café and Patisserie), as well as the Danish pastries served during breakfast.

Chef Jovyn Koay and her team will guide you step by step on how to make one of the well-loved cakes and pastries such as Chocolate and Banana Muffin, Chiffon Cake, Baked American Cheesecake and Foccacia Bread.

Chef Koay will also share useful baking tips such as why certain ingredients like eggs need to be at room temperature, why and when flour should be sifted, and why rice flour is added into the Chocolate and Banana Muffin mixture.

Best of all, you’ll get to wear (and bring home) your own apron with your name embroidered on it, as well as bring home the goodies you have baked!

Tuck into local or international flavours for breakfast

Nothing beats a hearty breakfast to kick-start your day the right way. The hotel serves a set menu at Café Mosaic from 7am to 10.30am daily. Each set comes with assorted pastries, fruits, apple or orange juice, coffee or tea, and your choice of main dish.
