It’s never too late for you or your family members to pick up a new skill or learn something cool.

In celebration of Singapore’s 56 years of independence, People’s Association’s PAssion WaVe team has come up with a host of family-friendly activities where you can learn something new and have fun with your loved ones at the same time.

Here are five learning activities to check out.

Coffee Appreciation Workshop

If you’ve always wanted to gain a better understanding of the different types of coffee and learn how to identify different aromas and flavours, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to up your caffeine knowledge.

Japanese Pastel Nagomi Art Basic

Heard of Nagomi art? This Japanese art form, whose kanji character broadly translates as “harmony”, can help soothe your emotions, relax your mind, increase your self-awareness, and enhance your confidence and self-esteem.

Soft pastels and your fingers are all that you need to create simple, yet beautiful artwork. Nagomi art is suitable for beginners as well as advanced hobby artists.

Find out how to grow and care for air plants aka tillandsia, some of the easiest plants to grow. As they do not need soil, they can be grown at different locations, making them perfect as decorative elements in homes, offices and event spaces.

You’ll also find out how to identify the different species of air plants, as well as get tips on how to decorate and display the plants.

Roblox Obby Creation Workshop (Online)

At this workshop, kids aged 7 to 12 will get to draw upon their creativity and imagination while learning new programming concepts in a creative environment.

Through the Roblox game creation system, kids can learn to design their own games using Roblox Studio as well as play a wide variety of different games created by other users.

Sharks In Singapore (Virtual Talk)

Intrigued by sharks? Discover the physiology, anatomy, behaviour and other qualities of sharks from shark expert, Dr Neil Hutchinson of James Cook University of Singapore.

A marine biologist, Dr Hutchinson is currently studying the distribution of bamboo sharks around Singapore and will share on the biology of sharks as well as the various species that can be found in Singapore waters.
